December Already!

Wow! Here it is December 7th already - where did the time go? I don't know about you, but I sure learned a lot during the first semester of Project Play and hope to see many of you during the second semester.

My favorite thing(s) of Project Play - so far has to be LibraryThing. As many of you know, I LOVE LibraryThing so I won't go into detail here. My second favorite thing is Flickr. I've been using it for a little while and learned about more features and uses of Flickr.

I'm looking forward to the second semester of Project Play and I hope you are, too. We'll keep on playing more, learning more, and fearing less.

LibraryThing

I love LibraryThing! I started keeping a written log/journal of all the books I read back in 1997. A few years later, my family started asking for book recommendations and I started compiling my reading journal into an annual compilation and gave it away as part of their Christmas gift. Once I discovered LibraryThing, I quit the written log and moved completely online. Here's my LibraryThing catalog. If you click on the 2007 Book List, you'll see what I've read so far this year - and yes, I read fast.

I also use LibraryThing for reader's advisory. If someone asks me for a recommendation, I'll check my LibraryThing catalog for ideas. Many LTers write reviews or comments on their catalog entries. I've written a few reviews of the books I've read, but mostly I just make sure to tag the books so I'll remember what I've read.

I hope you enjoy LibraryThing! Keep on Playing!

Week Five and WLA

Good Afternoon!

Welcome to Week 5 of Project Play! I hope you're all enjoying your Project Play experience and are playing (and learning) a lot! I know that I am. I'm new to this Web 2.0 stuff, too and I'm learning right along side of you.

A post on a Project Player's blog last week grabbed my attention. Veronica talks about writing her blog and then checking to see if anyone has commented - and asks if anyone is listening! I've just started using a blog - this one for Project Play and Know More for SCLS Continuing Education. I've often had the same feelings as Veronica - is anyone out there reading this? It's much different than being in front of an audience and delivering your message and getting instant feedback.

On the other hand, I'm also guilty of reading many blogs but rarely commenting on them. Now that I've joined the blogosphere, I may have to change my ways and see if commenting more encourages others to comment on my blogs.

If you're at WLA this week, be sure to say hi! I'll also do my best to post some of my notes and impressions from various sessions.

Keep on Playing!

Wow - how time flies! I can't believe it's Week Four of Project Play, already! I hope you're all doing well - if not, please let me know! If you haven't registered your blog with us yet, we'll be contacting you this week to see if everything is okay.

If you're at WLA next week, be sure to let us know if you want to attend the Project Play gathering on Wednesday, October 17 from 5-7 p.m. at Title Town Brewing. Please let us know by Wednesday, October 10 if you'll be able to join us.

Welcome

Welcome to the PandaLibrarian blog! I'll be posting here about Project Play as well as anything else that strikes my fancy! I'm the PandaLibrarian because I've loved pandas since I first saw them in the Ueno Zoo (Tokyo) in 1983 and I'm a librarian.
